heinous bienfang live at the government center

Today, I heard something that
sounded like yesterday's tomorrow.

Heinous Bienfäng at the Government Center, Pittsburgh, PA

Those who are seeking a concert experience of trans-cranial dimensions need look no further than Heinous Bienfang. The Pittsburgh-based band quickly shuttles from sound to sound like an errant bottle rocket, shooting sparks through the likes of Soundgarden, Tom Waits, and the Cure without regard to all the flammables involved.

Their recent performance at The Government Center Record Shop on November 12 was described as an electric affair, a transcendent transformation between confusion, appreciation, and undying loyalty. Launching into their set with a shortened version of "Satan's Camaro," the band might as well have thrown a stick of dynamite into a goldfish bowl. The ensuing chaos, wide-staring eyes, and gasping for breath made it clear that Heinous Bienfang is not your average rock band, or at the level of some sort of rock band that can be numerically analyzed. From that high-octane starting point to the closing mania of "Fish," the crowd was hooked, and their release at the end of the show was no guarantee that they would safely find their way back to the depths they came from.

“I thought I knew what music was.”Local Fan, Deutschtown

The band's eponymous vocalist has a presence more volatile than a Saturn V mere seconds after ignition, and the band should by rights have a hard time keeping up with this towering column of flame, but they do this with ease, having undergone years of safety training and non-stop practice drilling covering just about every kind of emergency. There is no eventuality they cannot handle.

The Heinous Bienfang rock concert is the closest you can get to an out-of-body experience without having to sign some sort of waiver. We'll see you at the show, and we hope you make it safely back to the depths afterwards.
